How to present

Clear, clear, clear

Slides

  • Use less text, more pictures
    • Make slides, not scripts
  • Use larger fonts if possible
  • Make the slides simple, and you should fill between the lines
  • Never copy the text. Speak in your voice.

Talk

  • You are the king of the jungle (Irfan)
  • Be on time, come earlier if possible (Irfan)
  • Break the ice, by jokes, familiarising each other (Phuong)
  • Speak loud!
  • Speak slow~
  • Be natural (don't be shy, be normal) (Saad)
  • Bring the note (for cheating) (Saad)
  • Try to make it the time (check remaining time) (Ibraham)
  • Try good pronunciation (Nha)
  • Adapt to the type of the audiences (Irfan)
  • TIP: remember the first sentence of each slide
  • Make variation in your voice not to bore people (Binh)
  • Use questions to draw audience's participation (Huong)
  • Face the audience, not the slides, make eye contacts
  • Don't read the slides, but explain them
  • Have confidence!
  • Be honest
  • Practice your talk at least once in front of your friends. There is no successful talk without a practice talk, period.
  • Try to control the audience's attention. By gestures and words, you should let audience to know where to look at right now, slides? or you?
  • And please SMILE~

Organization of the presentation

  • At the beginning, please provide "outline" slide so that audience knows what is coming
  • Please DO NOT FOLLOW the paper's organization. Make your own agenda. Be creative.

ETC
